Following the relocation of the Virginia Museum of Contemporary Art (Virginia MOCA) to its new campus, the City of Virginia Beach is exploring the future of the 2200 Parks Avenue property. To help inform future discussions, Mayor Dyer has convened the Mayor’s 2200 Parks Avenue Advisory Panel and is engaging the community to better understand the values, priorities, and opportunities that are most important to residents and stakeholders.

Spring 2026: Advisory Panel Established
Mayor Dyer convened the Mayor’s 2200 Parks Avenue Advisory Panel, representing a broad range of perspectives, to help guide the public engagement process and explore the future of 2200 Parks Avenue. -
June 25, 2026: Advisory Panel Kickoff Meeting
The advisory panel held its first meeting to discuss the property’s future role in the community, identify key themes, and help shape the community engagement process. -
July 27, 2026: Community Listening Session from 6-8 p.m. at 2200 Parks Avenue, Virginia Beach
Residents are invited to participate in an interactive, open-house event to share ideas and perspectives on the future of the property. The event is free and open to the public. -
August 2026: Advisory Panel Meeting (date TBD)
The advisory panel will review community feedback from the listening session and continue its discussions. -
Fall 2026: Advisory Panel Recommendations
The advisory panel will finalize its observations and recommendations, incorporating community feedback gathered throughout the engagement process. -
